Top Things to Do If You’re Stuck at Home or Hotel During Lockdown

Almost all people around the world are stuck in their homes or hotels due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This coronavirus has confined all of us inside our homes and we look for new ways to amuse ourselves. Most of you may have already completed all of Netflix’s series or movies and the idea of wasting another day on the sofa scrolling all day through your social media can get a bit tiring, right? 

However, being on lockdown doesn’t have to be tedious, not if you keep yourself busy. Engaging in different things that you can do each day can help spirits high as well as making the time move faster. There are various activities that you and your family can enjoy to keep peace in the home. 

Most of us wish to be away on an exciting break somewhere but everyone is at home or even stuck in hotels on the other side of the world wanting to go home. With that being said, we’ve compiled a list for some amusing things to do. 

Get Artsy and Unleash Your Creativity 

If you want to kill some time, why not improve your drawing skills with just a simple pen and paper or challenge your kids to draw each other. If you’re stuck in your hotel accommodation, this can be a great activity that can be enjoyed for hours. You can ask the kids to draw Mom and Dad or vice versa. To make it more interesting, get the kids to draw the wonderful view from the hotel window or living room. You may even discover a new skill that you and your family never thought you have. 

If you’re just sitting at home doing nothing all day, it’s better to place your new creations on the windows for all your neighbours to see outside–depending on how confident you are of your work. 

Grab Those Old Board Games and Play Them

This the ideal moment to grab your Monopoly board that’s kept in the dusty cupboard. Whether it’s Cluedo or Snakes & Ladders. But if you don’t have access to board games inside the hotel room, you can try to remember games you haven’t played in years that you can share with your kids. 

You can try playing pictionary, charades, or hangman, are always great to involve in or get a pack of cards and watch the hours pass by. 

Create Your Family Tree 

Although this one may get you to feel a bit lonely when we can’t see our loved ones at the moment, it’s a wonderful idea to have their kids learn about their ancestors and make their own family tree. You can even FaceTime your relatives to obtain interesting stories and information from them that you can also include. 

Set Your Goals and Travel Plans 

Make use of your free time by planning the places and countries you would like to visit or the hotels you want to experience when the pandemic is over. Get inspired and motivated. Try to road map the hotels you wish to go to or the destinations you aim to explore later in the year or in 2021. 

This is also the best time to reflect on the future and make a bucket list of the things you want to attain for the next five to ten years. Make sure that you involve your family and friends on this one. This activity can bring families closer and learn more about each other. 

Celebrate a Party (Even if There’s None) 

Why not have a party with your family? It doesn’t matter if someone is celebrating an important occasion or not, it’s a great idea to just toast to another day of lockdown wishing for it to be over. Relax and enjoy your free time with your family along with a bunch of delicious snacks and maybe even a drink or two. 

If you love to drink then you may make a cocktail menu. Don’t forget to have fun during these frustrating and sometimes tough times. If the hotel room has a balcony, then you better make use of the view outside as you sip your favourite wine. 

Get Back Into Fitness 

If you regularly go to the gym, it can be a bit lazy to keep up with your gym routine at home when places are closed. But if you’re just at home, it’s the best time to get back into fitness. You can order equipment online to be delivered to your home or use whatever is in the room to plan out your daily exercise. Plus, there are plenty of online videos available that can help you get back to shape. 

Exercising can bring benefits to our mental and physical well-being. It’s really easy to go binge eating the whole day during the lockdown but having the motivation to get up and move around is essential. 

Do a Garden Makeover 

Maybe you’ve forgotten about your garden already and you’ve been putting it off for a lifetime, but now that you have extra time to provide some love and care to it, now this is the time! Cut some grass or remove those stubborn weeds from the ground. Being around the garden not only enhances our mood, but the fresh air also gives benefits to our well-being.
